I Don't Want To Do Radio Again, I'm Tired

Ace broadcaster Fiifi Banson has revealed that he doesn’t have plans of returning to a radio job anymore because there’s nothing exciting on Ghanian radio.

Fiifi Banson is one of the oldest people who have been in the media space; radio to be precise. Fiifi Banson was initially working at Radio Gold until he moved to Peace FM. He was one of the few radio hosts who hosted his show in his native language; Fanti. His late afternoon was one of the leading shows in Ghana until Abeiku Santana and other ante speaking presenters were introduced.

Fiifi Banson was so effective at what he did that just after one year of being at Peace FM, Fiifi Banson was named as the Best Radio Presenter in Ghana by the then Arts Critics and Reviewers Association of Ghana (ACRAG). He was at Peace FM for 15 years. Fiifi however, was one of the few presenters who were porched to Kasapa FM.

In an interview with Justice Opoku-Agyemang of Hot FM, Benson said he does not want to do radio anymore because he is tired. He emphasized that there is nothing too exciting on the radio these days.

“I don’t want to do radio again… I’m tired,” he told Agyemang when quizzed whether he had plans to be on the airwaves again.

Asked if his style would not sell again in the Ghanaian market, the ace media personality revealed that he would get a job if he availed himself to be back on the radio.

“It’s just that there’s nothing exciting on the radio these days. During our time radio was more fun than it is now,” he stated and disclosed that ‘most of the current crop of radio presenters in Ghana now is shallow. There are a lot of shallow people on the radio now because most people are on board by virtue of opportunity. not talent,” Fiifi Banson added.
