Veteran Nollywood actress, Joke Silva, is in for a double celebration as she marks her 60th birthday and 40 years in the movie industry.
Joke Silva has had a remarkable career as an actress that has spanned four decades. Joke Silva is Director of Studies at the Lufodo Academy of Performing Arts, while her husband, Olu Jacobs acts as chairman of the school.
Joke Silva has been in a number of English-language and Yoruba-language films and television series. In the 1990 English film Mind-Bending, she played one of her first roles. Her first film was Owulorojo in 1993, followed by Violated in 1995.
She played Nene in the British-Canadian film The Secret Laughter of Women, in which she co-starred with Colin Firth and Nia Long. After noting Silva’s role, author Finola Kerrigan said that she distinguished herself as an extraordinary actor in the Nigerian film business.
Taking to her Instagram page, she gushed over herself and thanked God for the gift of life.
