The Pan Africa Great Green Wall (PAGGW) countries have chosen President Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Heads of States and Government of the PAGGW to help facilitate a $5bn grant and $14bn soft loans for the agency.
The minister of environment, Dr Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar, made the submission at a ministerial briefing on recent developments in the environment sector.
Other recommendations in the UNEP report that the government is implementing sensibly include providing potable water to Ogoni communities, training facilities for sustainable alternative livelihoods, public health inventory, environmental surveillance, and the building of a Centre of Excellence for Environmental Studies/Remediation.
The minister of environment made it known that Buhari would be in charge of the Heads of States and Government of the PAGGW at the end of the 5th Summit which is going to be hosted by Nigeria virtually in September 2021.
According to the clergyman, if Buhari listens and shuffles his cabinet, some of the people with evil minds would finally leave him and he won’t have to complain about those abusing or misusing power around the throne.
In his words: “The past one week has been a time of tremendous pressure on me from far and near, from the high and the mighty because of the message that was preached here last Sunday. Apart from my phone ringing non-stop, some took it upon themselves to visit us at home wondering what has happened to my professed friendship with Mr president,”
