Despite Not Being Rich, It Is Surprising Why Nigerians Accepted Me

The President of Nigeria, Buhari says he finds it surprising that Nigerians voted for him though he is not rich.

This statement was made on Tuesday, July 13 while he received the report of the National Security Summit which took place by the house of representatives on May 26. The Speaker of the lower Chamber, Femi Gbajabiamila led his team of lawmakers to present the report.

In Buhari’s statement he said that people came out in the numbers just to find out what Buhari looks like without being forced to. According to him, many people find it extremely surprising even though he is not rich and he disclosed that he does too.

He said;

“The number of people that turned out to see me, some waiting for 10 hours in the sun, was more than anyone could buy or force. They just wanted to see who this Buhari was.

People wonder why Nigerians accept me, despite not being rich. I wonder, too.

I felt I just have to serve Nigeria and Nigerians to the best of my ability” he said

The president went on to say that Nigerians are fortunate and should be proud of themselves despite the hardships they face.

In other news, President Muhammadu Buhari administration has lauded the Apex Igbo cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo on their decision to formulate a legal team to supervise the trial of the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami issued a statement where he maintained that Ohanaeze’s decision is the best to make as it is a constitutional one. READ HERE
