Ghanaian gospel musician, Diana Antwi Hamilton, has bagged the award for the Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards USA (GMA-USA).
The event was held in New Jersey in the United States of America (USA). Diana Hamilton won other awards like the Gospel Artiste of the Year and Gospel Song of the Year awards.
Mr. Drew took home the New Artiste of the Year and MOGmusic, also took home Male Vocalist of the Year. Celestine Donkor also won the Female Vocalist of the Year award.
Adina won the Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year and Stonebwoy won the Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year awards, while Keche won Hiplife Song of Year with ‘No Dulling’ and Group of the Year.
Meanwhile, Controversial Entertainment pundit, Mr. Logic recently asserted that the “Adom” hitmaker Diana Hamilton who emerged as the winner of the Artiste of the year award at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards did not actually win the award.
According to him, per the compilation of the votes from the board of the VGMA, that of the academy, and votes from the public which constitutes 40% of the entire vote cast, Diana Hamilton did not win the artiste of the year.
Speaking on the United Showbiz with Empress Nana Ama Mcbrown, Mr. Logic stated that gospel musicians are not to be included in the Artiste of the year category.
In his submission, Mr. Logic stated that the gospel is not a genre, thus needs not be included in the award scheme.
He said that the award should be given to an artiste who represents the entire industry and all the genres in general and Diana Hamilton playing a single role as a gospel artiste is not enough reason for her to be nominated in the category in the first place.
