He made his explosive statement on Accra-based national television GHOne on Tuesday 22nd February, 2021.
GHOne quoted Mr. Mahama Ayariga in a tweet saying “If we hunt LBGT down or shutdown their advocacy, it is a serious violation of our constitution. — Mahama Ayariga, MP, Bawku Central .”
Mr. Mahama Ayariga continued to add that, he is always watching for Ghanaians to walk the fine line because he’s a human right advocate.
He was quoted in a tweet saying “As a human right advocate, I am always watching us walk on the fine line. — Mahama Ayariga, MP, Bawku Central.”
The issue of gay right or legalization of LGBTQ and is a dicey issue in Ghana. Although the current 1992 constitution does not specifically stipulates LGBTQ right and gay marriage is not supported in it.
However, a set of Ghanaian citizens have plainly throw their support in defend to legalize gay marriage and LGBTQ in the country.
Recently, rumour spread that a group of LGBT have opened an office in the capital; Accra.
Whiles Ghanaians wait on president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to speak on the matter, there has not been any words from the office of the presidency yet.
