A Ghanaian man who works as an undertaker at the mortuary has shared some of his experiences in the field she finds himself.
Speaking to Oheneba Media in an interview on their ‘Punchelines’ show, the man whose name was not obtained at the time of filing this report said that they treat the dead people who were rich whilst alive the same way they treat poor people.
According to him, when a corpse’s mouth is wife open, they sew it with a needle to close it, and when the teeth comes out they hit with a hammer so that the mouth can close.
He said that his experience in his line of work has taught him a lesson in life and that is to stay humble because we will all die some day.
“When a person dies and they’re not straight, we use blocks to straighten them. If the neck of the deceased is not straight, we can put 10 blocks on the dead person’s chest to break the neck to straighten the person. If you die with your mouth opened, we sew it together, and if you have your teeth out, we break it with a hammer,” he said.
According to the mortuary man, both the affluent and deprived in society receive the same treatment. ”When you die, you don’t determine how you’re treated, we determine the kind of treatment you get.
He recalled how some powerful figures in society were treated when they were brought to the mortuary, saying: “We did not even put them on anything. We put them on the bare floor to cause the body to dehydrate,” he added.
