Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was born on November 20, 1942, to Joseph R. Biden Sr.and Catherine Eugenia Finnegan at St. Mary’s Hospital in Scranton, Pennsylvania.
He is an American Politician and a member of the Democratic Party.

1. Biden and Family
   The Biden family are of English, French, and Irish descent.
   In 1822, Biden’s third great-grandfather immigrated from England to Maryland in the US.
   Neilia Hunter Biden was the first wife of Joe Biden and had three kids with her
   Neilia Hunter Biden and Naomi Christina “Amy”(Joe’s daughter) lost their lives December 18, 1972, in a car crash shortly after her husband became U.S. senator-elect.

Four and a half years after his first wife and infant daughter died Biden met his second wife on a blind date in March 1975.
On June 17, 1977, Biden married Jill Tracy Jacobs Biden (formerly Stevenson) at the Chapel at the United Nations in New York City.
They had one daughter, Ashley Blazer Biden.
Biden has seven grandchildren from two sons.

2.Biden’s Education Background
Biden studied at the University of Delaware before earning his law degree from Syracuse University in 1968.
He was admitted to the Delaware bar in 1969 and received student draft deferments and afterward was classified as unavailable for military service due to asthma while in school.
Biden is an alumnus of Archmere Academy.
He was a football star back in school.

3. Biden’s Occupation
   He is a lawyer and a writer by occupation.
   After graduating from law school, Biden returned to Delaware to work as an attorney.
   In 1968, Biden clerked at a Wilmington law firm.
   In 1969, Biden practiced law first as a public defender and then at a firm headed by a locally active Democrat who named him to the Democratic Forum, a group trying to reform and revitalize the state party.
   Biden has authored many books that have been published in the market.
   These books include Promise me, dad which was published in 2017, Promises to keep published in 2008, staff report also published in 2020, and many books.
4. Biden in Politics
   After graduating from law school, Biden returned to Delaware to work as an attorney before quickly turning to politics, serving on the New Castle county council from 1970 to 1972.
   In 1972, Biden defeated Republican incumbent J. Caleb Boggs to become the junior U.S. senator from Delaware.
   At the age of 29, he became the fifth-youngest senator in history.
   Biden was persuaded to join the Senate in 1973, and he went on to win reelection six times, becoming Delaware’s longest-serving senator.

In 1988, Biden pursued Democratic presidential nomination but withdrew after it was revealed that parts of his campaign stump speech had been plagiarized from British Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock without appropriate attribution.

He withdrew from the 2008 presidential campaign when he lost momentum in the race after placing fifth in the Iowa Democratic caucus in January of that year.
On August 23 Obama officially announced his selection of Biden as the Democratic Party’s vice presidential nominee, and on August 27 Obama and Biden secured the Democratic Party’s nomination.
Obama-Biden ticket defeated John McCain and his running mate, Sarah Palin on November 4, 2008.
He resigned from the Senate post shortly before taking the oath of office as vice president on January 20, 2009.
In November 2012 Obama and Biden were re-elected for a second term, defeating the Republican ticket of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.
Biden announced his candidacy in April 2019, joining a crowded Democratic field.

In August 2020 Biden chose Kamala Harris as his running mate—she became the first African American woman to appear on a major party’s national ticket—and later that month, he officially was named the Democratic presidential nominee.

Biden and Harris succeeded in rebuilding the so-called “Blue Wall” through the Midwestern Rust Belt states, and on November 7, four days after the election, Biden secured the 270 electoral votes necessary to capture the presidency.
Biden becomes the 46th president of the United States.

Joe Biden had been given a lot of honors for his hard work done.
On 26 April 1992, he was awarded
Ellis Island Medal of Honor.
He won the 2005 True Ally Award in Men Stopping Violence.
On 24 June 2016, he was honored with the Gold Medal of Honorary Patronage at the Philosophical Society.
In January 2017, Obama awarded Biden the Presidential Medal of Freedom with distinction.
