On Thursday, July 15, Gbajabiamila spoke to legislators during a tense plenary on the electronic transmission of poll results, warning that whatever choice is made must not be based on self-interest.

He insisted that a decision on the difficult issue should be taken only after all democratic possibilities have been considered, and he cautioned members against screaming each other down, saying that no one can impose their opinion on another.

The speaker said;

“The reason why I think we should get it right is that this is a moment in history and we should do whatever in our conscience that we believe is in the best interest of Nigeria.”
